Our Land
Located in Santa Cruz County, our farms enjoy privileged positions along the Monterey Bay coastline.
Cool nights, sunny days and coastal breezes make our land ideal for growing crops that require moderate Mediterranean conditions to flourish. Redolent of wet, salty air and sun-soaked mornings, our plants are living legacies to the storied beauty of the California Central Coast and the farmers who have cultivated it for generations.

Our History
Established in 1946 in nearby Aptos, our story is inescapably linked to the production of heather. It was during our very early days that we established the seedlings of the breeding program that would give us our signature ventricosa blooms. Owned by the Rodrigues family, Coastal expanded to Watsonville in 1984 and grew to become the largest heather grower in the nation for both cut and potted formats.
Over the course of three generations, we earned a sterling reputation with wholesale customers for beautiful rosemaries, unique varieties of cypress and our rare heather. A niche grower with ambitions to diversify, we entered our most exciting period of growth when Brooks Street acquired us in 2017.
From cultivating a one-of-a-kind heather to merchandising solutions that make shoppers stop and take notice, every aspect of our operation is rooted in innovation.

The only other place I’ve seen it is in Italy at the markets.”
